BHS honors local veterans (Audio included)

Bellefontaine High School held an assembly to honor local veterans on Friday.

The event was orchestrated by members of the National Honor Society and was held in the auditorium.

The assembly featured guest speakers Lori Maben, Jim Vorhees, and Trevor Ward.

Both Maben and Vorhees described their experience in the Navy.

Ward is a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and shared an inspirational message to the students. He explained why he chose the military and how the military has helped him find his place.

During the assembly, BHS students Madison Krock and Peyton Smith shared essays on what a veteran means to them. Both students described the importance of veterans and what their sacrifices mean to them.

Following the speakers, Jim Denlinger performed a variety of patriotic songs on the piano. Additional songs included "The Star Spangled Banner" and "The Lord Bless You and Keep You" performed by members of the symphonic choir.

The assembly gave students an opportunity to understand the hardships soldiers face. Students were also able to share their appreciation and gratitude with the veterans.

NHS Secretary Kaitey Chervenak shares the purpose of the assembly and expresses her gratitude towards the veterans.
