BHS holds annual Freshman Camp (Audio included)

NHS members Megan Dyer and Lauren Heminger with incoming freshmen Erin Jackson and Kayla PlummerOn Thursday, Bellefontaine High School hosted its annual Freshman Camp for the incoming freshmen.

The purpose of Freshman Camp is to welcome all of the new freshmen and help prepare them for high school.

Throughout the event, NHS members as well as other select upperclassmen acted as student leaders and guides for the freshmen.

The event kicked off with an assembly in the auditorium by Mr. Eldridge. He stressed the importance of maintaining a good GPA and finishing high school. He went on to discuss college and careers with the students and encouraged them to become involved.

Following the assembly, freshmen ate lunch while the student leaders helped them read and understand their schedules.

Next, BHS Principal Dr. Noeth and assistant principal Mr. Abbott gave a presentation in the auditorium. Dr. Noeth explained what it means to be a Chieftain. She also shared that what they do today matters tomorrow. Mr Abbott reiterated the importance of Chieftain Pride and discussed the keys to success.

To help students become successful, students are required to create a goal sheet for the year that includes personal, academic, and extracurricular goals. The goals aid students in becoming successful and also help them stay organized.

After the presentation, student leaders acted as guides and led groups of freshmen on a tour of the building.

To end the event, the BHS cheerleaders held a pep rally in the gymnasium.
