The 18th Annual Logan County Relay for Life took place Friday evening at Southview Park in Bellefontaine.

Event leaders were Emily Shreve, Aaron Tayor, and Washington Township Police Chief Rick Core.

The Honorary co-chairs were Nancy Harmon, who was unable to attend, and Connie McGlone.

Connie spoke before the walk started.

At 9:30 pm a special luminary ceremony was held. They played a video with Nurse Nancy addressing the crowd, as she currently is in Idaho.

McGlone went on to say she went to her 4th biopsy in Dublin and the doctor said, "I think you're going to be okay."

She went through a genetic study and got the results in three weeks. The test was negative and she feels very blessed.

Connie had surgery last August 9th. It went well and she was back to work at Citizen's Federal after two and a half weeks.

Her test came back after surgery very low so no chemo was needed.

Today she is cancer free, giving credit to her faith in God and support of family and friends, who without them would not be have been able to cope.

McGlone encouraged those attending to do their screenings, be safe, and to have a yearly mammogram.

Amy Cartwright shared and said, “Never lose hope.”

“Seasons of Hope” was the theme which included a “Celebrate More Birthdays” opening ceremony.

The relay kicked off at 6 pm with several holidays celebrated throughout the event including Christmas, Easter, and New Year's Eve.

Several raffles were held during the evening.

The biggest supporters were Benjamin Logan students, AcuSport, Honda of America, and Indian Lake Elementary School.

Representing Benjamin Logan was Darby Eades. She presented a check for $31,765 to the Relay for Life.

Since students started fundraising, over $250,000 has been raised to fight cancer.

AcuSport was represented by Katie Fraim and Denise Thompson, who is a survivor, being 7 months cancer free.

Honda of America was represented by Tim Myers.
