ODOT recognizes local schools for Painting the Plow

ODOT 1st place WinnerThe Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 has announced the winners of their 2017 Paint the Plow Competition.

More than 20 plow blades that were painted by local students from various districts were judged by ODOT employees.

The top seven were on display at the ODOT headquarters in Sidney.

First place went to Triad Middle School for their “Kindness is Contagious” message.

“No Texting” slogan by Wapakoneta High School took second place.

Third place was a tie between Bellefontaine Middle School and Sidney Middle School for their mascot inspired murals.

The winning plow blades will be displayed in various parades, festivals, and fairs throughout the district.

ODOT would like to thank all of the schools who participated in this year’s event.

The Paint the Plow initiative allows local students to take part in community outreach and showcase their talent by painting tasteful murals on the ODOT snowplow blades.

The blades promote safety and raise public awareness about ODOT’s snow and ice operations.

The painted blades will be attached to plow trucks during the winter months to use on roadways near the school districts in which they were painted.
