Local fundraiser spurs growth in West Africa

L to R: Jones, Tiendrebeogo, and NicholsonTwo local business owners teamed up during Lent to raise funds for Kingdom Investment International in Bellefontaine.

Don Jones of Kingdom Fish in Rushsylvania and Rob Nicholson of the Marketplace Cafe provided tilapia sandwiches at the Marketplace.

The fundraiser was called “The Fish of a Lifetime” sandwich.

All of the profits from the 280 sandwiches sold, $1,700, was donated to Kingdom Investment.

The money will provide microfinance loans to small business entrepreneurs in Burkina Faso, which is a country in West Africa.

Half the money will fund widows setting up businesses in Burkina Faso.

The remaining funds will support entrepreneurs.

Kingdom Investment CEO Jean-Paul Tiendrebeogo was in Burkina Faso earlier this month.
