Two charged with OVI early Sunday

The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reported a Bellefontaine man was pulled over early Sunday morning around 1:15 after he was observed driving 49 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Drew Erwin, 23, was driving a 2010 Dodge 4-door eastbound on Rush Avenue when he was pulled over by the patrol.

When talking with Erwin, the trooper noticed a strong odor of alcohol in the vehicle.

Erwin refused a breathalyzer test.

He was charged with OVI and speeding.

The patrol also reported an OVI arrest northwest of Quincy Sunday morning around two o'clock.

Carey Taylor, 42, of Maplewood, was driving a 2010 Kia SUV westbound on Township Road 78 near County Road 23 when she went off the left side of the road and struck a pole and rocks before resting in a ditch.

A passerby observed her vehicle in the ditch and contacted the patrol.

When the trooper arrived at the scene he woke up Taylor, noticing the smell of alcohol and a bottle of vodka half empty.

She was not injured.

Taylor refused a breathalyzer test.

She was charged with OVI and failure to control.

Her vehicle suffered minor damage.
