Riverside student arrested for high school fight

A Riverside student was arrested following a fight at the school Thursday morning around 7:50.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Alejandro Cruz, 15, of Quincy, got into a dispute over his ex-girlfriend with Zachery Ford, 17, of Quincy, in the school's ag lab.

Cruz struck Ford in the face.

Cruz then walked off the campus.

He was stopped by a staff member and returned to the building.

When Cruz was questioned about the fight, he suffered a panic attack.

The school nurse treated him.

Cruz's right hand was red and swollen.

He was charged with assault and lodged in the Logan County JDC.

Ford did not have any visible injuries.
