Grand Jury indicts 28 - Lima couple charged for recent campground burglaries

Larry Lyle IIIThe Logan County Grand Jury indicted 28 people earlier this week, including a Lima couple who broke into several area campgrounds last year.

Larry Lyle III, 26, of 712 Taylor Avenue, Lima, was indicted on one count of burglary (F2), 30 counts of burglary (F3), two counts of attempted burglary (F4), 15 counts of vandalism (F5), six counts of theft (F5), 18 counts of petty theft (M1), and 15 counts of criminal damaging (M2).

Alyssa Taflinger, 26, of 1800 Reservoir Road, Lot 76, Lima, was indicted on one count of burglary (F2), 29 counts of burglary (F3), two counts of attempted burglary (F4), 15 counts of vandalism (F5), six counts of theft (F5), 17 counts of petty theft (M1), and 15 counts of criminal damaging (M2).

The charges for the couple are related to a series of burglaries over several months at 10 different campgrounds involving 34 campers.

On December 28th, the Logan County Sheriff's Office made a traffic stop on County Road 18 near County Road 43 after observing a suspicious vehicle leave the Oak Crest Campground, 4226 County Road 187, Bellefontaine, around 6 p.m.

Deputies identified the driver as Lyle.

Taflinger was in the passenger seat.

During the stop, Kevin Lanham, 55, of Madison, Indiana, approached and told deputies that he had just arrived to the campground and observed a suspicious vehicle at his campsite.

Lanham saw Lyle hurry out of his camper and flee the campground.

Inside the camper, a television had been pulled away from the wall and other items had been moved.

Deputies noticed damage to the lock on the door.

Lyle told deputies that he had been at his grandmother's campsite, but campground owners reported that no one by Lyle's grandmother's name is listed at the campsite.

Denise BirtDenise Birt, 60, of 700 Lick Run Road, West Union, was indicted on one count of aggravated theft (F3).

Birt is the former director of the Tri-County CAC.

In July 2016, she was indicted on third-degree felonies of securing writings by deception, theft, and falsification; a fourth-degree felony theft, and a misdemeanor charge of tampering with records.

The theft charge involves a $275,000 loan secured through Liberty National Bank on a 315 West Auburn Avenue property purchased with federal stimulus money.

Mario Castallante III, 26, of 304 Race Street, DeGraff, was indicted on single counts of possession of marijuana (F3), trafficking in marijuana (F3), possession of hashish (F3), and illegal use or possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia (MM).

Vincent Thomas, 38, of 601 South Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted on single counts of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer (F3) and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them (M1), and three counts of failure to stop after an accident (M1).

Cynthia Manzano, 48, of 10803 County Road 54, Lewistown, was indicted on single counts of tampering with evidence (F3), grand theft of a motor vehicle (F4), and falsification (M1).

Kayla Cluck, 19, at large, was indicted on single counts of burglary (F3), theft of drugs (F4), safecracking (F4), and theft (F5).

Rodney Spencer, 28, at large, was indicted on single counts of burglary (F3), theft of drugs (F4), safecracking (F4), and theft (F5).

Casey Sherwood, 44, of 407 Smith Avenue, Kenton, was indicted on single counts of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility (F3), tampering with evidence (F3), possession of heroin (F5), and possession of drugs (F5).

Coty Morrison, 32, of 318 North Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted on single counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (F3) and possession of cocaine (F5).

Anthony Robinson, 43, of 525 South Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted on one count of having weapons under disability (F3).

Jessica Vombaur, 32, of 500 Gunntown Road, Apt. 47, Bellefontaine, was indicted on single counts of robbery (F3) and petty theft (M1).

Frank Barnes, 35, of 212 Pearce Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted on single counts of tampering with evidence (F3) and possession of cocaine (F5).

Larry Miles, 61, at large, was indicted on one count of escape (F4).

Douglas Boggs, 35, of 3329 State Route 47 East, Bellefontaine, was indicted on one count of escape (F5).

Barry Pletcher, 24, of 118 Bristol Circle, Russells Point, was indicted on one count of trafficking marijuana (F4).

Stephanie Burk, 38, of 134 North Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted on three counts of trafficking in cocaine (F5).

Durrell Parrish, 25, at large, was indicted on single counts of possession of cocaine (F5), aggravated menacing (M1), and criminal damaging or endangering (M2).

Taylor Higgins, 21, of 1600 Township Road 216, Bellefontaine, was indicted on single counts of aggravated possession of drugs (F5) and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia (M4).

Jaedyn Ford, 19, at large, was indicted on one count of trafficking in cocaine (F5).

Thomas Roberts, 18, at large, was indicted on one count of theft (F5).

Kyle Hatmaker, 33, of 6299 State Route 287, West Liberty, was indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs (F5).

Jessie Harmon, 46, of 2024 State Route 273, Belle Center, was indicted on one count of possession of heroin (F5).

Robin Roberts, 58, of 116 1/2 North Main Street, Bellefontaine, was indicted on one count of illegal use of a supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits or WIC program benefits (F5).

Billy Grider Jr., 52, of 913 Cooper Street, Kenton, was indicted on one count of possession of cocaine (F5).

Robin Shulaw, 40, of 404 East Columbus Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted on one count of possession of cocaine (F5).

Matthew Anderson, 27, of 868 East Sandusky Avenue, Bellefontaine, was indicted on one count of failure to appear as required by recognizance (F4).

Robert Keens Jr., 23, of 609 Roy Avenue, Apt. 3, Dayton, was indicted on one count of failure to appear as required by recognizance (M1).
