Bellefontaine BOE accepts bid to modernize high school cafeteria (Audio included)

The Bellefontaine Board of Education accepted at their first meeting of the new year Monday night a bid of $41,640 from Continental Office Supply to refurbish the high school cafeteria. The money will come from the food services account and not affect the general fund.

Modern, comfortable seating will be installed over spring break.

The board conducted an organizational meeting prior to the regular meeting. Joan Haushalter, starting her tenth year on the board, was re-elected as president. Tim O'Rielley, starting his fourteenth year, will again be the vice president.

Haushalter discusses re-election and district goals.

Anne Reames will again represent Bellefontaine on Ohio Hi-Point's board and be the OSBA delegate.

Board members earn $125 for every board meeting. There are to be no more than twenty meetings per calendar year.

The board accepted the resignation for the purpose of retirement of middle school consumer science teacher Karen Young. The retirement will be effective at the end of the school year. Superintendent Brad Hall indicated that at this point, she will be replaced but added that all positions are subject to evaluation.

Hall talks about high school cafeteria and Mrs. Young.

The board recognized December high school seniors of the month Alex Miller and Violet Martin. Next year, Miller will study software engineering at Baldwin Wallace. Martin will study pharmacy at Ohio Northern.

Treasurer Keith Krieger certified the results of the passing of the November levies. Both levies had at least two-thirds approval of a large voter turnout.

The coaching positions for all high school spring sports were approved except for softball. There is no change from the previous year.

Impact Coordinator Shannon Maier was granted a medical leave of absence effective January 3rd until April 3rd.

The board will next meet on Monday, January 23 at 6:30 pm.
