A teen driver was charged with reckless operation following a crash on the city's east side Tuesday night around 6:10.
The Bellefontaine Police Department reports that Lane Brunke, 16, of 312 Wren Street, Bellefontaine, was driving a 2014 Ford Focus westbound on Township Road 55 when he failed to negotiate the curve leading onto Township Road 179.
Brunke went off the right side of the road and struck a fire hydrant, gas line marker, three guy wires, and a utility pole.
The car bounced off the utility pole and came to rest.
Brunke admitted to engaging the emergency brake to swing the rear end of the vehicle around while negotiating the curve on the wet roadway.
He was not injured.
Passenger Toryanne Wreede, 16, of Rushsylvania, suffered minor injuries.
Bellefontaine Fire and EMS responded, but did not transport Wreede.
She was not wearing a seat belt.
Brunke was wearing a seat belt.
The Focus suffered heavy damage.
