A Big Springs couple was charged after deputies discovered "deplorable living conditions" at their 5699 State Route 274 residence Tuesday afternoon around 4:30.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Cecil Potter, 28, and Danielle Wages, 29, were each issued summons for child endangering after deputies conducted a well being check at the home.
Authorities found mice and cockroaches on the kitchen counter.
The home did not have any running water and the only heat came from electric heaters.
There were water leaks in the residence and the bathrooms were filthy.
Dirt was found on the floors and carpet.
Logan County Children's Services responded and made arrangements for four children, ages 2, 7, 9, and 13, to live with other family members.
Deputies also discovered an oven that was smoking.
Mr. Potter said he was heating garlic bread.
