Fourth-graders raise money for local pet shelter

L to R: Blanks and LonesA local school made a donation to the Top of Ohio Pet Shelter on Monday.

Indian Lake Elementary fourth-graders decided to make "Loom Band" jewelry to raise money for the pet shelter.

The idea came from Alexis Lones.

Lones, Tori Blanks, Layla Yoakam, Hayle Willoby, Gaven Clary, and Logan Evans spent their recess making the bands and sold them to their fourth-grade friends raising $82.85. They presented the check to the shelter yesterday.

The students were designated Top of Ohio Pet Shelter Ambassadors. Each of them will be receiving special certificates. The shelter staff was really moved by the spirit, work, and actions of the students.

Shelter mascot Bessie is pictured with Blanks and Lones.
