The Hilliker YMCA received a donation of $27,225 from the Mary Rutan Foundation this year which allowed for the purchase of seven pieces of equipment, including two new Adaptive Motion Trainers (AMT). AMT’s can go from short to long stride, walking to running, and climbing and lunging, allowing members to target specific muscle groups.
The most recent donation also went toward the purchace of ActivTrax, a system designed to help keep members on track with their workout goals.
Executive Director Jim Bouldin said that the Mary Rutan Foundation has donated a total of $52,010 worth of equipment to the YMCA over the past two years.
According to the most recent Community Health Risk and Needs Assessment for Logan County, nearly 35 percent of all respondents self-reported being obese and living sedentary lives.
