A 4-year-old Columbus boy was killed after he fell out of a van driven by his father in Union County near Plain City Thursday morning around eleven o'clock.
The Marysville Post of the State Highway Patrol reports that Natividad de Jesus Hernandez, 30, was driving a 1997 Chevy Venture northeastbound on Brock Road between Industrial Parkway and Briarwood Drive when Angel Gustbabo Hernandez fell out and was struck by the minivan.
The boy was transported to Dublin Methodist Hospital by Jerome Township EMS. A short time later, he passed away.
Angel was not properly secured in a child safety seat or booster seat.
Mr. Hernandez and his other passengers were not injured.
Hernandez was arrested Thursday night on a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident. He was lodged in the Tri-County Jail in Mechanicsburg.
Troopers continue their investigation.
The Union County Sheriff's Office and Jerome Township Fire Department assisted.
