BHS Distinguished Alumni Nominations

Nominations are currently being accepted for the Bellefontaine High School 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award.  This award has been established to honor alumni whose actions and achievements bring honor and distinction to the academic heritage of Bellefontaine High School.  In order to qualify, the candidate needs to be at least a 10 year graduate of BHS and have demonstrated significant success in the professional arena and/or shown a significant contribution in service to the community, state, or nation.  2018 Distinguished Alumni will be recognized at the BHS Commencement Ceremony on May 25, 2018.

Messiah Rehearsals-Mark your calendars

Attention Logan County Area Singers:
You are invited to join us for GF Handel’s Messiah (Selections from the Christmas portion of the oratorio) to be performed at Indian Lake High School on December 10th at 6 pm featuring the combined choirs of Logan County and community volunteers.
Community refresher rehearsals will be held:
Monday, Nov. 20 from 6:45 to 8:00 pm
Thursday, Nov. 30 from 6:45 to 8:00 pm
Sunday, Dec. 3 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm
Thursday, Dec. 7 from 6:45 to 8:00 pm
All rehearsals are in the Indian Lake HS Choir Room. In addition, there will be a combined rehearsal on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 9 am to 12 noon.
The concert will take place Sunday, December 10 with a warm-up from 4 pm to 5:00 pm and the  performance beginning at 6:00 pm.Dress for community performers will be black and white and shades of gray. If you have performed the Messiah previously and are in good vocal condition the community rehearsals are optional. We do ask that everyone attends the Saturday, Dec. 9 combined rehearsal.
Admission is $5.00 per adult, $2.00 per student. Children 5 and under are free.

West Liberty Christmas Festivities

West Liberty is gearing up for its Christmas Festivities with several events being planned including Christmas music and decorations.  On Monday, November 20th, the Lions Club is holding the Ham & Turkey Raffle.  It will be held at 7 pm at the West Liberty Fire House.  

 The shops will hold open houses on Friday and Saturday, 24 & 25th of November.  On Friday, Marie’s Candies will once again hold their open house from 8 am – 6 pm, which includes yummy samples, candy making demonstration, free Gingerbread house decorating for children 12 and under.

 Friday, November 24th is the last day to bid at the West Liberty Christmas Tree Silent Auction at Town Hall.  There are ten Christmas trees beautifully decorated by area businesses, non-profits and families and bidding ends at 4 pm.  Proceeds go to the West Liberty Historical Society’s Opera House Project.  This event is sponsored by West Liberty Business Association.  For more information, contact village clerk, Cindee Boyd at 937-465-2716.

 Paul Kary will be present to autograph his book, “The Strength to Endure” from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Township Trustee Room at Town Hall.   Kary was a POW for seven years in Viet Nam.  The books are $30 each with proceeds going to The West Liberty Historical Society’s Opera House Project.

 The Old Fashioned Community Soup Dinner will be held at the Fire House from 4 pm to 6 pm.  Stop by for a hot cup of soup and fellowship with other community members.

 The 19th Annual Luminary 5K Run, in honor of Paul Johnson, will begin at 5 pm making a loop twice around the west side of town.  Walkers are welcome.  The Christmas Parade and Christmas tree lighting will began at 6 pm.  If you would like to enter a float, decorate a vehicle, march or walk or enter your animals, parade forms can be found at  The theme is “Christmas” so use your imagination and get your entry ready.  Santa will be in the parade so no more Santa’s please.

 Following the parade the children can visit Santa’s Work Shop at the Fire House

for treats and a picture with the Jolly Old Elf himself.

Y-Club Before and After School Program

The Hilliker YMCA offers a State-Licensed Before & After School Child Care at the Bellefontaine Elementary School. We serve children grades K-5th grade. School days out are available at the YMCA. Understanding and Supporting Autism-Register

The Logan County Board of DD is partnering with  the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence to present Understanding and Supporting Individuals with Autism on December 1st for 8:30 am to 4 pm at the First Church of God in Bellefontaine. This event is FREE to Logan County residents, $10 for out of county participants. Lunch is included.  Please RSVP to Deb Morrison at 937-292-3011 or by November 1. The West Liberty United Methodist Church will be hosting GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays ---a one evening seminar for people facing the holidays after the loss of a loved one.    

This will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the church.


Surviving the Holidays is an evening designed to provide ways to navigate through the holidays and will give practical tips, words of strength and encouragement, and suggestions to help you face and survive the unique stresses of the holiday season.

Celebrate Recovery!

Hello!  Members of Vineyard Christian Fellowship, Jubilee Mennonite, and Bellefontaine First Church of God are excited to announce a new Christ-based recovery option for Logan County - Celebrate Recovery!  The program is aimed at all "hurts, habits, and hang-ups that prevent an individual from experiencing an abundant life in Jesus Christ."  It is one of the seven largest addiction recovery support group programs in the country with over 3.5 million people who have participated. Approximately two-thirds of these participants are in recovery for something other than drugs or alcohol. 

Our meetings will be held weekly, on Friday nights, at Union Station (613 Hamilton Street, Bellefontaine) at 7 pm.

WLS Alumni Game
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM
The West Liberty-Salem Boys Basketball team will be hosting an alumni game on Nov. 17th, starting at 7:30.  Admission will be $2 and there will be concession food available.  Past WL-S basketball players may play and can register by emailing Darrin Leichty at  The cost to play will be $20 and will get you at least one game and a T-Shirt.
