Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities Blood Drive

May 24th Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities will host its first public blood drive at its facility located at 1851 SR 47 West, Bellefontaine. The blood drive will take place during the hours of 12noon-4:00pm . Deb Morrison of the LCBDD Human Resource department will serve as coordinator for the facilities first blood drive. Donors are needed to make this a success and are welcome to call Morrison at (937) 292-3011 to schedule an appointment.
The Community Blood Center supplies area hospitals with blood donated by local donors. Mary Rutan Hospital is one of 24 area hospitals served by the Community Blood Center. To meet the needs of local hospitals the Community Blood Center needs to collect an average of 350 units of blood per day. Please consider helping keep the blood supply strong in our area by continuing to donate or becoming a new blood donor.
Appointments to donate are strongly encouraged and help the Community Blood Center plan for the appropriate amount of donors. Technology is making it faster and more convenient than ever to schedule your next blood donation. Just use your computer or smart phone to make an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com., or donors can schedule with Kathy Pleiman at 937-295-3100, or 1-800-388 GIVE(4483) walk-ins are always welcome as schedules permits.
Community Blood Center (CBC) urges healthy donors to consider making a blood donation at this time, there is always a need for blood.
A picture ID with full name, such as a driver’s license, is necessary to have in order to donate. Bring along the CBC ID card if you have one. Donors should be in good health and eat their normal diet. It is suggested to drink a lot of water the day before and the day of donation. .
Donors must be at least 16 years of age.16 year old donors must have parental consent, forms are available at www.givingblood.org or at CBC branch & blood drive locations, or donors can call Kathy Pleiman, Community Blood Centers Shelby & Logan County Representative at 937-295-3100. Donors who are 17 or older do not require parental permission forms. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) changes blood donor eligibility guidelines periodically.
