Slow Art Day, the international grassroots movement, announced that the Gallery at the Holland in Bellefontaine, Ohio will host an event during the sixth annual global Slow Art Day on April 12, 2014. The Gallery at the Holland joins the distinguished and growing group of more than 200 events planned around the world.
Slow Art Day is an all-volunteer, self-organized, annual global event that aims to transform the art-viewing experience. One day each year – April 12 in 2014 – people all over the world visit local museums and galleries to look at specific pieces of art for an hour or more. After their individual slow viewing, participants meet together to talk about their experience. Volunteer hosts organize the local events using the tools and support available at the Slow Art Day website. Museums and galleries are invited to host Slow Art Day –and many do – though in many cases community volunteers take responsibility to organize the events.
The Gallery at the Holland in Bellefontaine, Ohio hosted its first Slow Art Day in 2012 and attendees from all walks of life shared their insights and feelings about artwork.
The event at the Gallery at the Holland will begin at 11:00 A.M. on April 12, 2014 and will feature eleven works by various artists. The public will enjoy a guided tour of the art that will encourage the contemplation of the art on display. Participants who register online for the “View Five Discussion” will enjoy a guided discussion of five selected pieces of art by the event host, Karen Feltham. Following the viewing, participants will discuss the art and their experience. No art-related experience or training is needed! .
