Little Warriors Story

Little Warriors Mission was started by Wyatt Wenger.  In 2012 Wyatt suffered a life changing brainstem stroke at 8 years of age.  Wyatt spent one week at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.  While there, Wyatt met and heard stories of other kids with serious medical issues.  Once home Wyatt's family, church, school, friends and complete strangers held fundraisers to help pay for his hospitalization and other expenses related to his stroke.  Over the past year Wyatt has realized how much of a blessing the support from other has been.

Wyatt wants to make sure that other kids with medical issues feel the same blessings that he has.  With the help of his family Wyatt has started the Little Warriors Mission.  He would like to help as many chidren as possible with the money that he has raised through various fundraisers.  To date, Wyatt has raised/donated over $2000.  His donations have helped children with various medical needs including cancer, autism, mood disorders, a cleft lip and palate as well as a burn victim.  On the one year anniversary of his stroke Wyatt donted money to Nationwide Chidren's Hospital specifically for pediatric stroke research.

Along with the financial donation, Wyatt gives each child a stuffed animal that resembles his service dog Joy, a Golden Retriever.  Each stuffed dog is wearing a super hero cape embroidered with the words "Little Warrior".  Wyatt hopes that when the child is hurting or scared that they can hug the Warrior dog and remember that he is praying for and fighting with them.

The Wyatt Wenger - Little Warriors Fund has been established at the Peoples Savings and Loan in West Liberty.
